Marine Sounding Pipe Head
Marine sounding pipe heads are primarily used for media such as lubricating oil and fuel oil. They are installed at the top of the sounding pipe and are typically routed to the deck or a location that is easy to access.
In accordance with standards such as CB/T3778-99, marine sounding caps can be used as components of self-closing sounding valves.
Marine sounding pipe heads are commonly made of materials such as bronze and brass, which are corrosion-resistant and suitable for use in fuel oil tanks and lubricating oil tanks.
Overview
Applications:
When a vessel sways or liquid levels in the tanks fluctuate, oil and water can rise up through the sounding pipes. The sealing cap prevents fuel oil, lubricating oil, and ballast water from spilling onto the deck:
- Prevents oil spills that could cause fires, slips and falls, and marine pollution;
- Prevents ballast water and bilge water from overflowing and damaging the engine room and cargo hold environments.
Prevents external media and debris from flowing into the hold
At open-deck sounding ports, if rainwater, seawater spray, silt, or debris enters the hold:
- Contaminants entering the ballast water tank will accelerate hull corrosion;
- Water entering the fuel oil tank will cause fuel emulsification and equipment damage;
