Installation and Maintenance

1. Both ends of the valve’s passage must be sealed, and the valve must be stored in a dry, well-ventilated indoor area. If stored for an extended period, it should be inspected regularly to prevent rust.

2. Before installation, the valve must be thoroughly cleaned, and any defects caused during transport must be rectified.

3. During installation, it is essential to carefully check that the markings and nameplate on the valve comply with the requirements for use.

4. Lift-type vertical disc check valves must be installed on horizontal pipework.

5. Lift-type horizontal disc check valves must be installed on vertical pipework.

6. Check valves must not bear the weight of the pipework; large check valves must be independently supported to ensure they are not affected by pressures generated within the pipework system.

7. When installing a non-return valve, particular attention must be paid to the direction of medium flow; the normal direction of medium flow must align with the direction of the arrow indicated on the valve body, otherwise the normal flow of the medium will be obstructed. Foot valves should be installed at the bottom end of the pump suction pipework.

8. Generally, lift-type non-return valves should be installed on horizontal pipework, whilst vertical lift-type non-return valves and foot valves are typically installed on vertical pipework, with the medium flowing from bottom to top.

9. When a non-return valve closes, water hammer pressure is generated in the pipework; in severe cases, this may cause damage to the valve, pipework or equipment, particularly in large-diameter or high-pressure pipework. Therefore, those selecting non-return valves should pay close attention to this issue.
