JIS Marine Globe Valve
Typical Marine Applications
• Cooling-water systems
• Fresh-water systems
• Seawater systems
• Fuel-oil lines
• Lubricating-oil lines
• Steam systems
• Air/gas systems
Overview
Main Advantages
1. Good flow regulation
Unlike a gate valve, a globe valve is designed to provide relatively precise flow throttling and regulation by changing the position of the disc against the seat. This makes it useful for cooling-water, steam, fuel-oil and other control applications.
2. Reliable shut-off
The disc-to-seat arrangement provides effective sealing when the valve is fully closed, making it suitable for isolating sections of shipboard piping.
3. Marine-standardized dimensions
JIS-standard flanges and dimensions make the valve suitable for piping systems designed around Japanese Industrial Standards and can simplify replacement or integration with existing marine piping.
4. Robust construction
The conventional bolted-bonnet design and cast-metal body provide a mechanically robust valve for shipboard service. Typical JIS F7307 construction uses cast iron for the body/bonnet with bronze or stainless-steel trim.
5. Suitable for demanding marine services
Depending on the selected materials, JIS marine globe valves can be used for seawater, cooling water, oil and steam systems. Stainless-steel or other corrosion-resistant trim can be selected when required by the service.
6. Easy manual operation
The handwheel and rising-stem arrangement gives the operator a clear mechanical indication of valve opening/closing and allows controlled adjustment.
Advantages:
| Standard | Inspection and testing commonly according to JIS F7400 |
| Pressure class | JIS 10K,other JIS pressure classes are also available |
| Connection | Flanged,typically JIS 10K and 5K flange drilling |
| Valve type | Straight pattern globe valve |
| Operation | Manual handwheel; actuator versions can also be provided |
| Body material | Commonly cast iron cast steel and bronze |
| Trim | Bronze or stainless steel disc/seat and brass or stainless-steel stem, depending on specification |
| Typical media | Fresh water, seawater, hot/cold water, oil and steam, depending on material and service conditions |
| Typical size range | Common size are available from approximately DN50 to DN300 |
