Coating Standards: Hot-dip galvanized to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123, ensuring a minimum coating thickness and full coverage of all internal and external surfaces.
2. Material and Coating Details
Base Material: Fabricated from high-quality carbon steel plate or pipe, typically S235JR, S355J2, ASTM A36, or equivalent, selected for strength and weldability.
Corrosion Protection: The entire bellmouth — including body, flange, anti-vortex plate, strainer frame, and mounting feet — is immersed in a molten zinc bath after fabrication. This hot-dip galvanizing process (per ISO 1461) forms a series of zinc-iron alloy layers topped with pure zinc, providing a tough, abrasion-resistant coating that is metallurgically bonded to the steel.
Strainer/Grating: The integral strainer is also galvanized steel — either perforated plate, bar grating, or heavy-gauge wire mesh — providing consistent corrosion protection across all components.
Fasteners: Stainless steel (AISI 316L) or galvanized carbon steel bolts, nuts, and washers are used for strainer attachment, ensuring compatible corrosion resistance.

Anti-Vortex Device: For low-submergence applications, a cross-vane or flat plate is welded above the inlet. Galvanized coating ensures this critical component remains rust-free and functional.
Integral Debris Strainer: A removable or fixed galvanized steel strainer guards against debris, marine growth, ice, or solids. The open area is sized to keep net velocity low, minimizing pressure drop and clogging.
Mounting Feet / Stand: Heavy-duty galvanized steel feet or a ring stand welded to the bellmouth maintain correct clearance from the tank floor, preventing sediment aspiration while providing stable support.
Flanged Outlet: A galvanized steel raised-face or flat-face flange mates directly to the suction pipe, drilled to the required bolt pattern.
