DIN Marine Butterfly Valve
Product Definition
A quarter-turn valve designed specifically for shipboard piping systems, manufactured entirely to German DIN standards. It ensures complete dimensional interchangeability and reliable service in seawater, bilge, and fuel oil applications. Why Choose DIN Standard?
All critical dimensions—face-to-face length, flange drilling, and testing—comply with recognized DIN/EN norms. This guarantees a direct, gasket-free fit with existing metric flanges (PN10/PN16) and simplifies spare-part procurement across global fleets.
Overview
1. Design Standards
The valve is built under the following norms:
DIN 86059 / DIN 86064: Specific marine butterfly valve standards.
EN 593 / EN 16668: Industrial and marine valve design and performance.
EN 1092-1: PN10/PN16 flange dimensions.
EN 558 Series 20: Short face-to-face for compact installation.
EN 12266-1: Shell and seat leakage testing.
2. Marine-Grade Materials
Body: Ductile iron EN-GJS-400-15 or stainless steel 1.4408, with heavy-duty epoxy coating.
Disc: Bronze CuSn10, duplex stainless steel 1.4462, or super duplex for superior seawater corrosion resistance.
Seat/Liner: Vulcanized EPDM (standard for seawater) or NBR (for oil service), extending fully over the flange face to form a built-in gasket.
Shaft: Stainless steel with anti-blowout shoulder, running on self-lubricating, corrosion-free bearings.
3. Key Technical Features
Bubble-Tight Sealing: Bidirectional zero-leakage shutoff (Leakage Rate A per EN 12266-1).
Compact & Lightweight: Short body per EN 558-20 saves critical space in engine rooms and pump rooms.
Self-Gasketing Design: The elastomer liner eliminates the need for separate flange gaskets.
Actuation-Ready: Standard ISO 5211 top flange for direct mounting of manual gearboxes, electric, or pneumatic actuators.
Low Torque & Maintenance-Free: Smooth disc operation and isolated shaft bearings prevent seizure.
4. Typical Applications
Seawater cooling mains and auxiliary circuits
Ballast and bilge systems
Firefighting and foam lines
Fuel and lubricating oil transfer
Fresh water and condensate systems
5. Quality & Certification
Testing: Every valve undergoes hydraulic shell test at 1.5x PN and seat test at 1.1x PN.
Traceability: EN 10204 Type 3.1 material certificates for all pressure-containing parts.
Classification: Type approval from major societies (DNV, LR, BV, ABS, RINA, CCS) available upon request, with full heat-number and standard markings on the body.
